Greenhouse Auditing:
On occasions we have been asked to independently audit the greenhouse programmes that a business has put in place.
Two projects as examples:
The first project was an independent performance auditing for mines operated by Pacific Coal which included Tarong, Blair Athol and Kestrel Coal in Queensland.
Our component of this study was part of a larger environmental audit being conducted by PPK (Queensland) and we were invited to work with PPK on the project.
Pacific Coal required an update on their environmental performance with energy and greenhouse management forming part of that exercise.
The second project was an independent review of greenhouse and energy efficiency for PT Adaro Indonesia for compliance with international best practice as required by the International Monetary Fund when considering a request for additional funding for expansion plans. Our component of this study was part of a larger environmental audit being conducted by Golder Associates, Western Australian office who asked us to work with them on this project.
This exercise required site visits to Adaro’s operations in East Kalimantan in Indonesia, a review of their activities and assessment of their efficiency in comparison to other similar operations.

an 80 km private haulage road to allow coal haulage from the mine to the transshipment port at Kelanis

where the coal is loaded into barges for the continuing journey down the Barito river.

The coal is either loaded directly into Cape Sized carriers (about 200,000 dwt) at a deep sea anchorage off Bandjarmasin

or shipped to a coal terminal facility at Paula Laut for later dockside loading into Panamax sized carriers (about 75,000 dwt).

The project was carried out to ISO 14001 standard.
